BM16
BM16 is an ESRF CRG beamline dedicated to Protein and Macromolecular Crystallography (PX), and Small/Wide Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS/WAXS).
BM16 is one of the 2 spanish beamlines at the ESRF in Grenoble (France).
The synchrotron light, because of its unique properties, is one of the most useful and more versatile instruments for the structural analysis in many scientific and technologic fields. Spain participates in the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, ESRF (Grenoble), where the Spanish organizations can apply in a competitive basis.
At this moment, in order to facilitate the access of the scientific and industrial Spanish community to the Synchrotron light, and due to an agreement between the Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología (MCYT) of the Spanish government and the Departament d'Universitats, Recerca i Societat de la Informació (DURSI) of the Generalitat of Catalonia, the BM16 beamline at the ESRF is available. This beamline is dedicated to the macromolecule crystallography and, in particular, is optimised for techniques related to anomalous diffraction that solve the problem of the phases. The management of this beamline has been assigned to the consortium Laboratori de Llum de Sincrotró.
